On a lonely farm road between Castelnaudery and Mirepoix is this marker from a death more than 60 years ago. No doubt, there is a sad story that someone may still remember.

Even with my meager knowledge of French, I can recognize that this man lost his life for the love of France...the ultimate sacrifice. Ironically, the Germans were pushed out of France approx. 6 months after his death.
Luke is glad that he is remembered...but sad for the family that lost him.
