I Love the Word "Itinerary"

I love the word "Itinerary". When I use it, it usually means I'm travelling somewhere far away. I don't think I used the word when I went to Houston. Not at all.

We head out of Moab on Wednesday, tomorrow morning, heading for Denver. Thursday, we leave the truck in Denver and fly to Washington D.C. and then on London. Rumor has it we'll be flying with the portion of the Queen's entourage that doesn't fly with her; the wine steward, Phillip's butler, the downstairs maid, the press, the limo driver. If we have internet service in London we might check in with some observations. On Sunday morning we take an EasyJet flight to Toulouse. We'll make a quick trip to Ikea for plates, knives, forks, spoons and other camping supplies, and then on to Leran to check in at l'Impasse du Temple for a couple of nights. If all goes well, we'll sleep in our new house on Wednesday night. If all does not go well....

My first night in a new apartment is always my favorite...the packing boxes and the pandemonium don't bother me...because I can just see the "potential" of a new place and a new "view". I know your first might in your new home in Leran will make next Wednesday absolutely "magnifique" (I hope I spelled that correctly!) Luke still needs to find an English/French dictionary to communicate more effectively with "my French friends"!

BE HAPPY!

How amazing to sleep in your very own maison francais. Be sure to get your music set up, we'll be so eager to hear how it all goes.

Your trip twenty years ago was just the next year after our big family expedition with the kids, when we discovered St. Remy, Aix and what it was like to just live there. Underline live. That's what I liked so much, getting to know the Super U, it was a Rallye in St. Remy, the boulangerie, la patisserie, notre cafe favori and so on. I loved just staying put, having the same bed to sleep in each night, lumpy as it was. Hope the Easy Jet flight is good, it's great for getting there but don't rely on it for making connections, they are always late, we missed our flight to Paris and had to stay over, maddening. Eh bien, dormerez bien chez vous.

Just a funny thought, the mas in St Remy was so old, 1700's, the modern bathroom was down the stairs from the bedroom, through the kitchen-livingroom, out the side door through the garde a manger (or barn with the dirt floor). Darrell preferred, after his bieres, to pee out the window of the bedroom, right into a little stream that ran by. Oh well. That's where your famous pee tube might have been handy.

OK Lukas, just for you (and me) I added Babel Fish online translation service. It's not always accurate, and it doesn't take the place of actually learning the language; but it sure beats playing the guessing game. Have fun with it, and surprise us with a few phrases en Francais.

Leslie, you're so right about just loving having the same bed to come home to each night. On our bike trip we felt so compelled to always be hitting the road and not missing the next town. But when we finally rented a little house near the beach in the Netherlands, for a few days we just coocooned inside and left only to buy provisions. It was divine!

Nancy, I have never heard of Babel Fish online translation service! I guess I'll have to so some research on how to seem like a genius en Francais!

Just a little update on the "old" friends...Linda Giannini Moran just had her third grandchild baptised...a boy named Max James (the James in honor of Linda's deceased husband) and Lizzie's daughter just had her first child...a daughter named Claire Elizabeth. Lizzie's daughter lives in N. Carolina, so she's coming to visit on Fri and Sat. I'm looking forward to seeing her...even though I will be forced to clean! But when the cleaning is done...the margarita drinking begins...whooppee!

I hope all is going well on your trip back to France!

Whoohoo! I am so excited, thinking of ya'll fianlly on the move, turning a corner to living at last in Leran. I've been catching up on the blogs, but must say I focused right in on the rooftop terrace photo. They look so open to the winds and sun, how plants will thrive. Those in the photo looked rather like open boxes, so I wonder if they use fans to pull air in? I'd thought the photos we looked at were open on one side.
FYI, looking at another abode, this a home rather than a house, will make an offer this afternoon, unless the owners decide to take it off the market cause they can't bear to part with it. Wished you were around to drag to that, you'd find it interesting, a complete opposite to the first. I'll let you know how the purchase goes, but it will all work out, regardless. My new motto.
I'll look for photos of the cafes you frequent in your neighborhood, to imagine you there, sampling snacks and coffees, and I look forward to your next epistole.

Oh and would you get me the dates you'll be in London, so I can run them by my sister and see if that works for them? Would just be an airmattress on the floor in their two room flat, but they are close to the bus line that will take you into the city center (one hour) or that will take you to the Subway station. I will have to check on their exact location.
I look forward to hearing of how you spent your time in London this time! M
